Swiss Bars

Beat together:

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar (white)

1 cup butter

 

Add the following and beat again:

2 egg yolks (save the egg whites in a separate bowl)

1 Tablespoon water

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

pinch of salt

 

Then add:

2 cups flour (I love adding the baking powder, baking soda and salt with the flour).

 

Spread dough in pan (9x13)

Sprinkle/spread 1 package chocolate chips over top of dough layer.

Then spread topping over chips.

Topping:

Beat egg whites (in the bowl) with 1 cup of brown sugar until creamy color and lightly whipped consistency.

 

Bake 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
